Do you want fresh ice, made right in front of you anywhere any time? Then the Road Chef 12 and 24 Volt Ice aker is going to be your new best friend! We didn’t want any ice maker, we wanted the best 12/24 volt ice maker, so we worked together with our engineers to refine and perfect each part of the Ice Maker so that it could withstand anything that the harsh Australian conditions could throw at it.

We knew our customers wanted an Ice Maker that would work in the tropics, in the middle of summer, not just in winter on the top of a snow-covered mountain! From the outside it looks the same, but the real difference is on the inside! The Road Chef Ice Maker is dual Voltage, meaning it can happily work with either 12 or 24 volts as its power supply. The high-quality freezer compressor is the key to the Ice Makers ability to beat the conditions, creating a fresh new batch of Ice Cubes every 10 minutes or so.

You can choose between three different ice cube sizes to suit your needs from drinking your favourite spirit ‘on the rocks’ to keeping your bait cold while you get ready to haul in a feed for the family. All you need to do is pour up to 2.2 litres of clean fresh water into the reservoir, making sure you don’t go past the MAX indicator line.

Once the Ice Basket has been placed inside the Ice Maker you can turn it on. Select your cube size and the machine does the rest! The process is great to watch but be sure not to touch or obstruct any of the metal or moving parts! It starts with the water being pumped into the ‘tray’ that has moved up underneath the 9 ‘prongs’ until it is full. Any additional water runs over the top of the tray and back down into the reservoir.

Once full the compressor then goes into action and freezes the water in the tray around the prongs, creating ‘Bullet’ Ice cubes. After about 10 minutes, depending on what size cube you have selected, the tray will fold out of the way, the compressor will turn off and the prongs will be heated causing the cubes to fall off. The first few runs of the ice maker will produce smaller cubes, but as the water in the reservoir cools the cubes become thicker.

While the Ice Basket and Reservoir are insulated, they aren’t cooled directly so the ice will melt over time and drip back into the reservoir. While the door doesn’t need to be closed for the machine to work, we recommend keeping it closed for the best results.

Like any cooling device ample ventilation is needed on both sides and back of the machine for it to work efficiently.
