Heavy Duty Adjustable Dropped Draglink
suits:
Toyota Hilux Live axle
11/83 to 8/97 4WD (All Live Axle models)
Serviceable tie rod ends have 2 year warranty
The Adjustable draglink runs from the Steering box to the J Arm, If your vehicle is lifted, this factory arm will hit the rear U bolt on the drivers side of the vehicle, causing the J Arm to fail over time.
Fitment of the Dropped Draglink will prevent bind up in the steering, Once fitted you will find the following benefits
- Improves steering lock
- Increased down travel when articulating
- Supplied with Split pins & Grease nipples
- Correction of Steering geometry
- Greasable ends
- Servicable ends available in stock.
Excessive Steering link angle can produce erratic handling characteristics similar to those associated with improper caster angle (darting and wandering). Extreme angles can also cause the drag link end studs to bind and fail over a period of time.
This is a Heavy Duty arm, Significantly stronger than standard, exactly what you need in an arm that is below the bull bar, and in front of the diff!!
It is adjustable. It may be lengthened or shortened to straighten the steering wheel. If you have lifted your rig, we am tipping the steering wheel points to the left. As the arms all point more downward with a suspension lift they inherently get shorter along a horizontal plain and as such the steering box compensates = steering wheel points to the left.
The Drag link is the arm that goes from the steering box to the front left wheel. When you turn the steering wheel this arm pushes or pulls the front left wheel to steer. In standard form they are light duty, they are prone to damage as they are right out the front of everything and the tie rod ends form part of the arm -
They are easy enough to install at home in the driveway, The hardest bit is removing the original arm, It takes some persuasion with a hammer to loosen the draglink from the J arm (Attached to the steering box) Strike the side of the J arm to loosen.
When removed you can measure the front and back edge of the tyre, and turn the wheel until they are the same measurement, take this measurement and set your new Adjustable Dropped Draglink. Mount the new draglink, tighten the castle nut, and make sure you put a new split pin in!!!
A few mm adjustment can make a fair amount of difference so it is important to be as specific as possible, When you have finished if you are not happy with the Wheel, pull to the side, ect, it is recommended to get a professional wheel alignment.
All supplied with Greasable Heavy Duty Tie Rod ends.
