The Nissan Patrols are renowned for having a great LSD, over time they do wear out though.

These shims are 0.7mm thick, If you install one shim with the original shim pack it will tighten your lsd so you may have a squeal around corners on the bitumen, and nice and tight in the bush, almost like having a locker in the rear, without wearing out your tyres prematurely.

If you want it locked tight then 2-3 shims will be the answer, There are a lot of benefit's for using shims to lock your diff compared to other low cost options

Shims can be removed if it doesn’t suit your need’s, they are cheap, can easily get more if required or wear out. 2 shims will lock the rear diff tight enough to keep positive traction whenever you lift a wheel off-road, It is a cheap alternative to a Diff Lock, Relatively easy to install with plenty of instructions on the forums with photos, If in doubt you can remove your centre and take it to a 4wd mechanic who is competent with diffs to get them to install your shims, If you’re not sure on who to use, ask us and we can recommend someone near you.
