All 79-85 Toyota 8" used 1-1/2" pinion head from factory. All 86-95 Toyota 8" 4 cyl & V6 used 1-5/8" pinion head from factory. Aftermarket gears that are referred to as V6 are 1-5/8" pinion head, aftermarket gears referred to as 4 cyl gears are 1-1/2" pinion head.
