This innovative top housing from RED Winches now allows the serious winch user to take advantage of a simple upgrade to their current single motor 8274 winches.

This upgrade will transform your single motor winch into a much more powerful and faster winch.

With its solid billet machined housing for strength and durability it’s the perfect choice to transform your 8274 into a high performance winch system.

The unique design we have developed for the STORM top housing can now give people what we have been asked by them to do for the last year or more… an 8274 winch with our air brake system.

After many requests over the last 12-18 months, this is the driving force behind this product, to enable an 8274 to stop instantly, like all our current electric winch range, especially the Hornet. So the design allows the user to purchase the STORM top housing now and upgrade later with the air brakes.

If using the air brakes with the STORM top housing, it also allows (if people wish) to remove the traditional Warn brake altogether. It will work with or without the Warn brake system being on the 8274 bottom housing, so the choice is yours.

WHAT CAN BE FITTED

Motors: The STORM can work on its own happily using the OX / Lynx / BOW1 / BOW2 / BOW3 and WARN XP winch motors

Air Brake: RED Winch Air Brake Units (ABU) can be bought separately and added to the STORM. These will fit directly to the STORM housing, with the motors fitting into the back of them.

The STORM gearset comes as standard 36% quicker than the standard WARN 8274 with a final ratio of 98.7 to 1

It can also come as an option with a faster gearset, this is called the overdrive gearset and will make the gearset 53% quicker than the standard Warn 8274 with a final ratio of 62.6 to 1
